This Tiny House ADU proves thoughtful design makes all the difference!

Meet Jeramy & Kevin, a dynamic build/design duo with a passion for sustainable, simple small homes–tiny houses, cabins, and ADUs. An excellent example of their work is their Haye’s accessory dwelling unit. It’s a 35.7 sqm / 384 sqft tiny house backyard cottage built & designed by Nanostead. They also share top small space design considerations, why cost per square footage is misleading, and about their new code-compliant, affordable tiny house shells.

The cost issue is like the tiny car problem.
Those Smart cars were a trend, and interest piques with high gas prices.
But for the size and mileage vs a small suv, cuv or other 4 door small cars, the price is ridiculous for the Smart cars of the world

You guys designed a very beautiful small house model and the exterior amenities are very outstanding. Reusing old tile floors is very good and overall harmonious.

This is not a tiny house at all

  6. @weston.weston on February 25, 2025 at 7:48 pm

I appreciate the reference to customization at the end because I like their concepts and principles but would prefer a larger bathroom and living area.

  7. @Estrellalacefield on February 25, 2025 at 7:50 pm

Really love this one. The layout and sizing is very nice compared to many others I’ve seen.

Where are the "tiny" homes for people who are in WHEELCHAIRS? 😮😮😮😮

Jeramy & Kevin built a wonderfully simple & well designed tiny house accessory dwelling unit–35.7 sqm / 384 sqft. It’s all about the thoughtful details! They also share top small space design considerations, why cost per square footage is misleading, and about their new Nanostead code-compliant, affordable tiny house shells. 🏡 *Tour a gorgeous small cabin they built & designed:* https://youtu.be/ze62dW4FkQU?si=d5zP5iAjWmepywgo

Love this design. All the rooms are well laid out and the perfect size. Would only change one thing and that would be to put in a full size fridge.

  12. @lindadavis94 on February 25, 2025 at 7:58 pm

I like everything BUT the backsplash, it looks dirty or moldy, sorry!

  13. @billiamc1969 on February 25, 2025 at 7:59 pm

Way overpriced for what you get…nice though

    Great tiny home!!

  15. @froshnel on February 25, 2025 at 8:03 pm

This is by far my favorite designed tiny house I’ve seen yet, I would personally make it like 500-600 sq ft, so I could maybe add an extra room for like a computer and stuff along that line, but overall 100/10 absolutely beautiful

  16. @suesurrency1309 on February 25, 2025 at 8:04 pm

I know this video is 2 months old but I am really interested in the wall clock in the kitchen. Is there any way you could find out what brand it is and where it was purchased?Thank you.

  17. @superchampable on February 25, 2025 at 8:04 pm

This Tiny home is likely 150k+ based on 16:20. Tiny house living was supposed to be affordable and building something this nice your self would be hard but not impossible. Absolutely hate this company’s web site, no completed units to show or pricing. Just some random pictures and contact info. I much rather watch videos of DIYers. More informative inspiring and impressive to me.

  18. @uphylme9350 on February 25, 2025 at 8:05 pm

Get the foundation, framing, plumbing and electric done and then do everything else yourself.

How tall are the front and back walls?

  23. @vivianbunch1963 on February 25, 2025 at 8:10 pm

I could live in this house in a heartbeat!❤️

  24. @q.edwards4891 on February 25, 2025 at 8:11 pm

The way these guys talk really screams "scam". The way they try to make it seem like you’re getting more for your money is really off-putting.

  25. @neilmakohoniuk3768 on February 25, 2025 at 8:13 pm

need more of this style available in Canada. My mind always goes to things like – does it qualify for a standard mortgage? Insurance? Zoning etc.

  26. @alejandrovanags4948 on February 25, 2025 at 8:13 pm

Nicely done. Food for thought: there are on demand electric water heaters that occupy a lot less space

  27. @amberjones5563 on February 25, 2025 at 8:15 pm

    How much?

  28. @dutchgram3799 on February 25, 2025 at 8:16 pm

I love his comment about building an heirloom. Something that will be there in one hundred years. It should be a house made with integrity! INTEGRITY is very important!!

  29. @theresahoyt-ih1fi on February 25, 2025 at 8:17 pm

Needs a fridge and change to gas stove

  30. @LyndaOBrien-rl1to on February 25, 2025 at 8:17 pm

Where do you store food? Not much storage space in the kitchen but I guess it hasn’t been built with that in mind as it is more like an Airbnb! Still very nice though.

  31. @tammyjantzen9004 on February 25, 2025 at 8:18 pm

I absolutely love this design! It’s got everything one needs. I’d want a full fridge though & one upper cabinet. But I love the bar between kitchen & living space. Perfect for having guests over! Love seeing all the tree tops out the windows. Gorgeous!

  32. @vermontmike9800 on February 25, 2025 at 8:20 pm

So those tenants don’t watch TV? Got it.

  33. @sierranow on February 25, 2025 at 8:21 pm

I love your camera person on this one. More professionally done than some I’ve seen on any channel. They touched on money but he never said how much that particular house cost to build.

  34. @beap-6 on February 25, 2025 at 8:23 pm

Lack of dishwasher was a design mistake, IMO. From what I understand, they are more efficient and sanitize better than handwashing. It feels like overkill sometimes, but it’s more function than luxury. I’d remove one of those cabinets or just redesign the space to fit a freezer/fridge and dishwasher.

  35. @henimsay on February 25, 2025 at 8:24 pm

I thought if you were going smaller, it was to reduce your cost. These cost the same as the sticks and bricks. You may as well purchase a full foundation home. Unfortunately, I don’t see the benefit with this one.🫤

  36. @sheilahtipton6729 on February 25, 2025 at 8:26 pm

The no reason why tiny homes should be as much as a regular house no way

  37. @dangerzone9747 on February 25, 2025 at 8:27 pm

I will buy this house. Contact me.

  38. @barbarawalton3815 on February 25, 2025 at 8:27 pm

    im impressed
wonder what it would cost for a consult

  39. @AnthonyDibiaseIdeas on February 25, 2025 at 8:27 pm

LOVE THIS. Thank you. I’m so confused about how big it really is. Does anyone have a bird’s eye view? The two bedrooms remind me of a magic trick and I can’t figure it out.

  40. @Astronautin on February 25, 2025 at 8:29 pm

I love their closing comments. This is what the tiny house movement should be about.

  41. @ahowl7mx on February 25, 2025 at 8:30 pm

Just needs a garage on the bottom. Why not use RSG3D? Half price, faster construction.

  42. @gallopingg1 on February 25, 2025 at 8:30 pm

QUALITY ALWAYS STANDS OUT, SO DOE’S PERFECTION, AND THESE TWO GUY’S HAVE MASTERED BOTH, UK

  43. @bkfacs on February 25, 2025 at 8:31 pm

Thanks Alexis and Christian for bringing another perspective to ‘tiny’. As the guys from Nanostead stated, all homes need the basic components-kitchen, bathroom, sleeping, entertainment, as well as the electrical and plumbing hookups. And the way those are interpreted does effect price. Thanks again, I really enjoyed this one! I have thought about putting an ADU in my son’s backyard. 😊

  44. @denisephillips9269 on February 25, 2025 at 8:33 pm

I’m going to be bad….definitely decor by someone who doesn’t cook…Cast iron pans on a glass top stove😂😅..Good luck with longevity of that!!!😂😅😅😂..unfortunately I can’t remember the term for setting up furniture, decor of a build proor to selling.

  45. @nowannabeonthis8522 on February 25, 2025 at 8:34 pm

Dont focus on square foot cost… but, we charge $400 sq foot. However, water and permits and appiances all cost the same. Plumbing and electrical cost the same…

Sooo, what are you charging $400 per square foot for? Because you built a smaller home?

Newsflash, we only started building large homes in the 90s. They were called McMansions. Prior to that, virtually every lived in a 1000sq feet or less. With 4 kids and a dog.

  46. @yamchayaku on February 25, 2025 at 8:37 pm

This looks a lot bigger than a tinyhouse. I’d be convinced if it was already a regular house considering it’s its a lot bigger than what most people with studio apartments are used to living in.

  47. @josephschultz on February 25, 2025 at 8:37 pm

if it hade the same amount of plumbing as a 2000 SQ FT home it would be mostly plumbing! it’s all becoming a scam a 2000 SQ FT home will use (just numbers here so not actual numbers) 300 2X4s and a tiny home uses 100 2X4s so right there tells you a lot about cost which one will cost more the 100 boards or the 300 boards? or because it will be used in a tiny home will the cost of lumber suddenly double or triple???

  48. @MattJPN on February 25, 2025 at 8:39 pm

$400 per square foot!? Followed by “stop focusing on cost and just focus on cost effective solutions!” lol😂😂😂

  49. @yvonnehyatt8353 on February 25, 2025 at 8:40 pm

Please study-YouTube-Kristen Dirksen and Bryce Langston thanks 🙂

  50. @marymyers9211 on February 25, 2025 at 8:40 pm

At some point they will cut down that bar to counter height like every regular home that has them and regret it.
