Danny became drawn to alternative housing as a way to live within your means to regain control of your finances and mental health. And his tiny house made that possible! He’s never had less stress or more money in his pocketbook. His 20′ home on wheels is a great example of efficient design to create a simple home with just the right amount of day-to-day functionality & creature comforts. ๐Ÿ‘‰ *Tour a grad student’s 250 sqft THOW in another Durango, CO area tiny community:* https://youtu.be/3331vVcNEnM?si=_LktUMh3-s-F42Mt

I own a 250sq ft apartment in a major city and the financial independence is freeing. So many people say, โ€œHow do you live like that?โ€ and all I can think is โ€œHow do you live with a 2,500+ sq ft house with a big mortgage, maintenance costs, high utilities, etc?โ€ – Everybody I know that owns a house is stressed out and never can travel anywhere without having to go into more debt. I travel a lot, can buy quality food, and not constantly think about how to make extra money to make ends meet. I live like you and my apartment is not fancy at all but over the years Iโ€™ve found that, with the financial freedom and low stress, I really donโ€™t care what others think of my place or how I live and that in itself is incredibly freeing

This house looks so small on the inside. It’s almost magical how it seems to expand once you’re on the inside.

  15. @adalineproulx9773 on February 25, 2025 at 8:04 pm

1600. Mo cheaper than canada 2300 mo for a home.

  16. @JulyMoon82 on February 25, 2025 at 8:07 pm

I really like how laid back personality. I understand the few changes he’d like to make regarding the kitchen, but also embracing the kitchen as it is now until he’s ready or able to make those changes.

I used to love in a 1,200 sqft 3 bed 1.5 bath house when my kiddo was first born and it was just WAY too much space for the two of us. At one point, out of necessity, we ended up living in a 400 sqft studio apartment. That experience taught me that although the space was too cramped for the two of us, especially as she was getting bigger, that I could definitely live in a space that small by myself.

At some point we moved into a 675 sqft apartment, and that square footage suited us better. We’re currently in a small house that’s just shy of 700 sqft again, but once she’s graduated and moved out, I plan on moving into a small 1 bedroom.

I think as a society, we’ve put way too much value in living bigger under the idea that it’s better. Living within a space that suits our needs and provides the comfort and shelter required for safe living is far more important. Unless a person is living in multi-generational household or with a larger family, we really don’t need big houses that often end up being money pits.

  17. @joviahbirungi9992 on February 25, 2025 at 8:07 pm

It’s not how big the space is, but its practicality. Congratulations on being financially free. Wishing you the best in the times ahead. Enjoy your Kingdom โคโคโค

I love the idea of tiny homes as I believe most live above our means or at least try to and struggle financially in doing so. Even so, there is a considerable investment needed the. Placement of the home. Lot rents are high. Often more than a retired or disabled person can pay. I also think the tiny home builders are charging way too much for these tiny homes. When I see the price of new tiny homes the look at homes available, price per square foot of a tiny home is often much more. Most builders would charge well over a 100 grand for a tiny home this size.

  27. @cerilynpastolero1861 on February 25, 2025 at 8:16 pm

There ara lot of tiny house videos out there, but this is one of those thats a joy to watch. The space and the community speaks of why we seek to go tiny in the first place. The owners perspective take on how tiny living has been good for his mental health is very authentic and grounding.Wish you more adventures!:)

  28. @lorihutton4719 on February 25, 2025 at 8:16 pm

I love the home but yes, i agree you need a few tweeks done. After a year you will know exactly how or where you need extra or less. Under stairs is alot of wasted space. Id put a broom closet, few more lil cubbies under, maybe for bottles ( i dont drink wine but 2 liter soda ๐Ÿ˜‚) or shoe’s could go in lil cubbies. Your fridge could easily be replaced by cutting counter.
Now about that sofa , i made a camper more like a tiny home. I tore the built in sofa and dinette out. Not thinking if it doesnt fit thru the door or my largest window. Well you can imagine…. I need a sofa like yours. Comfy plus it makes a bed for all my company. Lol, i live so far back nobody visiting me except racoon, fox, black bear, deer and occasionally a box turtle gets hung in my fence. My land was my father’s ( he runs rabbits w dogs, just for sport ) hunting pen w a small cabin started on it. Only the exterior is completed. Im adding insulation this spring and finishing it as a tiny off grid home. Im not skimping out on anything ( air conditioning is a must for my breathing not just for a luxury ). Except a dish washer, i have had one in every apartment or house ive lived, never turned a one on ( maybe if i entertained or had children ). So i can use that space for something i will use. Thanks for sharing a lovely, well organized, tiny home with us. I do really like your stair well, its different and has a hand rail. All others are same looking i no but……so much storage space is under there to not use. I watched a tour once of a single, work from home, female. Her whole home office, under those stairs. Enjoy your life, living tiny gives opportunity to really live BIG. Ya get my meaning? ๐Ÿ€๐Ÿก๐ŸŒณ โ›บ ๐ŸŒณ๐Ÿก ๐Ÿ€Good ๐Ÿคž Luck!

Love this tiny house ๐Ÿ  For many U.S. municipalities, the zoning laws & regulations that block tiny home development were created in the late 80โ€™s – early 00โ€™s to eliminate & โ€˜phase outโ€™ _MOBILE HOME PARKS_ !

Developers, city councils and county commissions eliminated hundreds, if not thousands, of mobile & manufactured home communities. It was class warfare and they won! They claimed the parks were too crowded, a strain on utilities, a hot bed of crime, a blight on the greater community etc etc. They put thousands of people out of their affordable homes and IMO, kickstarted our current houselessness crisis ๐Ÿ˜”

They never built the apartments and affordable homes they said would replace the parks they shut down. They were never going to build them and our nations lack of affordable housing is PROOF ๐Ÿ˜ค
